Pupils help homeless in festive charity drive
Pupils at Eden Girls’ School, Slough have been supporting vulnerable people in the local area by holding a special festive charity drive.
Young pupils at the school have been taking part in collections and activities to help offer support as part of their annual Festive Winter Gift Programme.
The school has been filled with collections of food and warm clothing by enthusiastic pupils and staff to help the homeless. Parents have also donated money to help buy new items of clothing that have been requested by Slough Outreach and Connection Support. 
Staff and pupils at the school worked together to create hampers filled with treats that would bring comfort to people experiencing hardship over the winter season.
The school also joined with other Star Academies schools to take part in ‘Food for All Week’. From 7th to 13th December, all 29 schools across the Star Academies multi-academy trust aimed to distribute 50,000 food parcels and meals to those experiencing food poverty.
Sajid Khaliq, Principal at Eden Girls’ School, Slough, praised pupils and staff for their hard work and thanked parents for helping to support the campaign.
He said: “This year, our pupils and staff have worked exceptionally hard to help others through our Festive Winter Gift campaign.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has brought untold suffering and hardship to many, but thanks to our wonderful parents and staff we have managed to show our pupils that it is possible to make a difference.
“Thank you to all our pupils, parents and staff for showing so much enthusiasm and helping us to support those in need.”
