School ranked in top 20 schools nationally in GCSE performance tables

  • Eden Girls’ School, Slough achieves ‘Progress 8’ Score of +1.21 – the 17th highest value-added score in the country.
  • 1% of students achieved a ‘strong pass’ in English and Maths – one of the highest amongst non-selective schools. 90.9% achieved a ‘standard pass’ in English and Maths.

Eden Girls’ School, Slough has been ranked as one of the highest performing schools in England based on pupils’ academic progress.

Following the publication of the Government’s Key Stage 4 performance tables, the school has achieved 17th place in the national league tables based on the Government’s headline Progress 8 score.

The school’s Progress 8 score of +1.21 reflects the value that schools add to the progress of pupils, by measuring progress across eight key subjects from the age of 11 to the age when they complete their GCSEs. It means that on average the school’s pupils achieved more than one GCSE grade higher per subject than pupils of similar prior ability nationally.

Eden Girls’ GCSE results also displayed the high academic achievements of pupils, with 85% of pupils achieving a strong pass in English and Maths (grades 9-5), amongst the very best across England’s non-selective schools.

Sajid Khaliq, Principal of Eden Girls’ School, Slough, said:

“I am very proud that we have placed in the top 20 of highest performing schools, particularly as these pupils faced so much disruption to their education in recent years. Ranking so highly is terrific recognition for our staff who have gone above and beyond for our pupils in the most challenging of times.

“This is fantastic news for the whole school community, and I would like to thank our parents, teachers, and support staff, and of course our amazing pupils, for all they have done to make this achievement possible.”

Star Academies, the multi-academy trust which established and operates Eden Girls’ School, Slough, is celebrating another year of exceptional GCSE results across its schools, with four of the trust’s schools placed in the top 20 nationally for progress.

Reflecting on the school’s achievements and the challenges faced by pupils sitting their GCSE exams in the summer, Sir Mufti Hamid Patel CBE, Chief Executive of Star Academies, said:

“I would like to congratulate Eden Girls’ School, Slough on its exceptional GCSE results and the outstanding progress pupils make at the school. This cohort of pupils have faced unprecedented disruption over the last two years and, as the first group to sit exams since 2019, they have demonstrated exceptional resilience and dedication to their studies.

“For four of Star Academies’ schools to be ranked in the top 20 in England is exceptional, but what matters most is that children achieve the results they need to progress to their chosen course or destination, and to set them up for future success. I am delighted that our schools have once again excelled and delivered remarkable outcomes for our young people. These results demonstrate not just outstanding levels of attainment but also the phenomenal progress our pupils make, which is testament to the profound impact our teachers, support staff and parents are having on the lives of thousands of young people across the country.”
